To get points, you need to match as many snowflakes of the same type as possible. To switch to a new snowflake type, just double-tap the new snowflake. You need to collect enough snowflakes to advance to the next level.

Site and production update

Category : News

Greetings.

I decided to update the site to a more modern and cleaner design. I’ll be posting some new (and re-posting some old) content over the weekend, and I hope to start posting here more often. Aside from being the official source for information on games from Specter Studios, I intend for this site to be a useful resource for game programming on the iPhone, with code examples and tutorials, as well as to provide a candid space for discussion of the app market and gaming topics in general. Hopefully you will register and contribute your insightful comments and tips for other readers as well.

I’ve been pretty busy lately learning a lot of new software and code for various projects, not to mention planning an epic winter backpacking trip. I’ve received some good feedback on Particle Panic, the first game submitted to the App Store under Specter Studios. The consensus has been that its learning curve is too steep, and perhaps that I was giving away too much in the free version. That said, I think Particle Panic has a lot of potential, and there is an update in the works that will change the pace of the game to make it more friendly to the casual crowd. I’m also thinking about going to Apple’s Game Center exclusively. Why? Because it just works.

If you’ve been following Specter Studios on Twitter (@SpecterStudio), you’ll know that I just submitted a new game the other night. I’m going to wait to give out the details, save to say that it’s a really fun, simple, holiday themed arcade game, so hopefully it gets approved soon! It started out as somewhat of a test project, and it will give a sense of what can be accomplished by one person in 48 hours, including game design, coding, artwork, and some audio. The initial testers have been enthusiastic, and I think it turned out quite nicely myself.

I’ll be adding more content tomorrow. Until then, thanks for reading!
